When Lorelai agrees to talk to a therapist with Emily, Luke says that Emily manipulated her into this, and Lorelai realize that this will be tough. Both characters ignore the fact that Sookie has already quit and that as soon as she goes to work for Dan Barber, she has decided that she’s never coming back. It’s a mistake that Sookie doesn’t open up and it’s also a problem that Lorelai just lets this go without talking about it. Since Luke and Lorelai aren’t communicating properly, it’s hard to imagine that, if they picked a surrogate, that this situation would go well. Of all the revival plotlines, fans definitely find this one to be odd.

When Jason told Lorelai he was suing her father, she broke off their relationship. Though he tried to win her back, even showing up at the Dragonfly Inn on the night of its test run, Lorelai had already moved on to a relationship with Luke Danes. That night, to get Jason away from the Dragonfly Inn, Sookie and Michel call his cell pretending to be somebody else and tell him his condo is on fire so Jason leaves to go see his home.
